We built Scaffcalc because we were tired of the gap between the 'napkin sketch' and complex engineering software. We believed there had to be a faster way to be professional. Kevin Walian, CEO and co-founder, knows that gap firsthand: he spent years as a structural engineer consulting for scaffolding contractors before founding Scaffcalc in December 2019.

For years, the industry had two bad choices: slow, expensive CAD tools that take months to learn, or pen and paper that leads to errors. Kevin Walian saw this firsthand as a structural engineer who consulted for scaffolding contractors on load calculations, watching estimators spend days on work that should take hours. In December 2019, he and university classmate Viktor Skoglund decided to fix it. Together with three 3D software engineers, Saudin Botonjic, Oskar Karnblad, and Jonas Isacson, they stripped away the complexity, kept the engineering logic, and automated the drawing. The result? A tool that thinks like a scaffolder.
